I wanted the winner on the day to have a distinctive trophy which he could always remember winning. Something more than another piece of anonymous crystal.  At the same time, I wanted to capture and celebrate a little of the spirit that makes Galway Bay such a special club.

We had a consultation and over the next couple of weeks, Fergal showed me some initial design ideas. When we had narrowed it down, he developed the design further through full size models. He offered me options and welcomed my input at all times.

In the end, the finished prize was everything I hoped for. It was delivered ahead of time, on budget, and the design was spot on. It is a striking piece, beautifully made, and naturally finished in such a way as you can tell it will get better and richer with age. The piece received no end of positive comments on the night, and I couldn’t be happier."
